New journeys: Paris thoughts

Why do some people move, change countries, leave their culture, friends and family behind forever? And why is it that to others that idea in itself would be not just crazy, but inconceivable?

I believe that in each and every one of us we have an invisible force, something that makes us tick and drives the soul behind the physical body we each portray. To some, life is about family, about raising children and taking care of past and future generations, about making sure that traditions and customs live on, even long after our mortal spirits have left this earth.

To others, family and tradition, are words that generate a sense of fear, and nothing is greater in life than the pure feeling of freedom. They create their own family, their own tradition, their own culture, in a less traditional way.

I am not sure whether I fall into the first category, nor whether I truly fit into the second, and to be honest I don’t think it matters. As I embark on my French journey, and I build a life in a new city with the man I love, the only thing I can be sure of is that I have no idea what to expect, and that’s ok.

I hope that the day I leave France I will have become richer with a new sense of belonging and a deeper understanding of the region’s traditions and culture. And most importantly, I hope to have an awesome adventure along the way.1-IMG_1907
